Why this work matters.
Water and trees are inseparable. A community forest cannot survive without attention to groundwater recharge, rainwater harvesting, and responsible irrigation. Kesu Environment Foundation works with villages on low-cost, locally appropriate water management — johads, check dams, contour trenches, farm ponds, and restoration of traditional systems.
We also support communities with disaster management, particularly flood response in the Punjab plains and drought preparedness in Rajasthan and Haryana. Our work here is technical and practical: risk assessment, community training, and coordination with district authorities.
